How to Get Frizz-Free Hair Naturally
On a good day, nothing can bring the style-conscious woman down more than a frizzy, out-of-control hairstyle! Don’t let your unruly locks be the reason for your lack of energy. There are a few simple home remedies for frizzy hair that can help restore life to your hair again.
If you have recently dyed, bleached, or highlighted your hair, there might be chemical damage to your hair. This can strip the natural oils of the hair away and make it more vulnerable to dry air and hasty mornings where you can’t do your normal haircare routine.
Here are a few treatments to get you on your way to frizz-free hair.
1. Cold Water
Believe it or not, simple cold water can help reduce the frizz of your hair! When hot water touches your hair, it encourages frizziness, as it opens the hair cuticle rather than locking it down like cold water.
It’s the same principle as rinsing your face with cold water to close your pores. Instead of rinsing your hair with hot water after a shower, try blasting it with cold water – as cold as you can stand – for a few seconds for a slicker appearance.
2. Apple Cider Vinegar
The simplest frizz-free hair remedies are often the best. This is almost as simple as cold water – just water and apple cider vinegar, which is generally available at any grocery store in your area. Just mix half a cup of water with an equal amount of apple cider vinegar.
After you’ve rinsed out your conditioner, before you finish up your shower, rinse your hair with this mixture. It can sting your eyes or any open cuts, so make sure you don’t have cuts on your scalp or hands, or be prepared for a sting momentarily, but it will smooth the hair wonderfully.
3. Olive Oil
This is a fantastic deep conditioner to restore life to your hair after a harsh dying or treatment and make it touchable again! You probably have some in your cupboards, but if possible, use extra virgin olive oil.
Simply heat up about a teaspoon to a tablespoon (depending on how much hair you have, but remember that a little goes a long way) of olive oil in the microwave until warm but not boiling. Then, massage it into the ends of your hair, avoiding the scalp. Wrap a towel around your head and let it sit for an hour or overnight, then add a bit of shampoo and water to your hair and work up a lather. Finally, rinse it out in the shower, then shampoo once more to get the oil smell out of your hair.
4. KMS Tame Frizz Smoothing Lotion
When blow-drying hair KMS Tame Frizz Smoothing lotion becomes instantly compatible with hair; therefore reduces frizz during drying. Its lightweight leave-in formula eliminates static and flyaways leaving hair sleek and smooth. Just work-thru your towel-dried hair, blow-dry, or air dry, and voila! You may not consider this a totally natural route to frizz-free hair, but give it a try.
One of these remedies is bound to help you treat frizzy hair and make it sleek and beautiful. Whatever works, keep it up and do it about once every week to a month (every two weeks is often a good average), or whenever you notice the frizz getting out of control again. Don’t let your hair bring you down again!
